Join Kamehameha Schools' Enterprise Security Department (ESD) for a unique internship experience that offers exposure to real-world security strategy, cross-departmental collaboration, and emergency preparedness within an educational setting.
As an ESD Intern, you'll gain hands-on learning in:
Security governance and policy frameworks
How ESD supports the protection of people, data, and assets across KS campuses
Professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality in handling sensitive security matters
Collaborative communication with internal and external partners including Legal, IT, Facilities, ESSWB, Campus Security, Communications, and Preschool teams
You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing initiatives such as:
Emergency planning aligned with national frameworks (PPD-8, HSPD-5)
Data gathering and threat profiling for preschool sites
Security operations support including checklists, training prep, and document organization
Ideal candidates are self-motivated, organized, and strong communicators, with an interest in safety, public service, or emergency management. Interns will conclude their experience by presenting a summary of key contributions and insights gained.

Job Summary
Interns are responsible for adhering to the program parameters of an internship plan for the assigned department(s). Such a program plan is intended to give exposure to the intern of key processes and workflows of the assigned department(s) and to help the intern gain real-world knowledge of business operations.
Essential Responsibilities- Responsible for adhering to intern program guidelines in the department(s) assigned. Must complete a variety of tasks designed to give maximum exposure to work processes. Position expected to learn new and improve existing skillsets and apply them to practical situations at Kamehameha Schools.
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Enrolled in a post-secondary education program, or have graduated within the previous year.
- Proficient in the use of the PC/Mac and standard office software.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
- Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
