The Lead Athletic Utility Worker is a hands-on, team-focused role that supports the day-to-day operations of our athletic programs. This role works closely with many others in the Athletics department to support by keeping uniforms, equipment, locker rooms, and facilities organized, game-ready, and running smoothly. From managing inventory and preparing uniforms to supporting practices, games, and special events, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, working behind the scenes, and being a key part of the student-athlete experience. Flexible hours are available to support varying practice and event schedules, and weekend coverage may be required. Responsible to assist the Athletic Director in ensuring that there is an efficient inventory control and maintenance system for all athletic equipment and supplies; in the planning for all department work requests for our athletic programs; and to identify department needs specific to their respective areas (Boys ‘ & Girls ‘ Locker Rooms, uniforms, equipment, and supplies).
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintains an efficient and accurate system for inventory and maintenance of all Athletic Department sport program and event management equipment and supplies.
- Receives, verifies and processes new uniform inventory.
- Keeps accurate records on uniform sizing and maintains an inventory of uniforms at the start/end of each season and prepares list of missing items for billing purposes.
- Works directly with Athletic Administration to formulate uniform, equipment and supply orders based on consistent assessment of the condition of said uniform, equipment and supplies.
- Responsible to wash, dry, fold, sort and prepare uniform sets, towels and related items (approximately 1500 pieces per day) for student athletes and approved coaches assigned to a variety of athletic teams on a daily basis. Issues competition and practice clothes utilizing check-out/return system.
- Supervises athletic locker room use by ensuring student athletes follow procedures and established rules, securing locker room and monitoring appropriate use of locker room facilities.
- Sizes and issues practice uniforms to student athletes at the start of each season. Issues lockers and maintains accurate records of locker issuance.
- Participates with Equipment and Locker Room Staff in the set up/breakdown of fields, facilities and equipment.
- Picks up and/or delivers assigned athletic equipment to various locations as required for practices and games.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience.
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple job assignments.
- Ability to understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions.
- Previous experience utilizing laundry cleaning and stain removal techniques.
- Able to work a flexible work schedule to include evenings, weekends, holidays as needed.
- Able to lift and push supplies, equipment or laundry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a school setting.
- Working knowledge of computers.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
- Frequently stand and/or walk, write by hand.
- Able to lift and push supplies, equipment or laundry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Occasionally twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp firmly.
Working Conditions
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
