What a typical day as an Accounting Clerk II might look like: 
  • Under direct supervision, performs bookkeeping and accounting tasks.
  • Posts journal or voucher entries, reconciles accounts, and checks for accuracy.
  • Verifies, sorts, posts, and checks claims, bills, invoices, and vouchers.
  • Frequently reports to a Accounting Supervisor.
  • Performs light clerical duties within an accounting function.
  • May type, match payments, check items on purchase orders, prepare bank deposits and perform other routine calculations with specific instructions.
  • Have 10-key skills by touch or sight.
  • Is familiar with computers (and basic principles of A/P or A/R).
  • Performs basic accounting functions requiring knowledge of accounts payable and receivable and of bank reconciliation functions.
  • Answers customer inquiries.
  • Research problems and/or complaints.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you: 
  • Creates and edits spreadsheets.
  • Can perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.
  • Typically requires a high school education or equivalent
