Accounting Specialist

Location: Davis, CA 95616
Rate: $3 – $35/hr
Contract Duration: 6 Months (with potential for extension)
Start Date: As Soon As Possible Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist contractor with hands-on expertise in Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP). The selected candidate will support account reviews, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general system clean-up. This is a contract role with potential for extension based on project needs and performance. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough account reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Perform general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations in GP, including reconciling Accounts Receivable (AR) to Cash Receipts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Generate and analyze financial statements and custom reports.
  • Identify and troubleshoot discrepancies in financial data within GP.
  • Make appropriate transactions to correct client and system balances.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline accounting workflows and improve accuracy.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of proven accounting experience.
  • At least 2 years hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (Sales, Service, and Finance Modules).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control principles.
  • Experience with AR, AP, account reconciliations, journal entries, and account review.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical abilities, and organizational skills.
Nice to Have:
  • CPA or equivalent designation.
  • Experience with Great Plains reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with SQL queries or system integration projects.
