Description

Job Title: Substitute Food Service Worker

Other Titles: Culinary Worker, Cafeteria Worker, School Nutrition Worker

Qualifications:

  • Meets state education requirements.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and establish effective working relationships.
  • Complies with safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Respects diverse cultures within the community and school.
  • Additional qualifications as determined by the Board of Education and Kelly Education.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to the School Principal or Assigned School District Food Service Manager.
  • Receives daily instructions from School District personnel.

Job Goal:

  • Provide food service assistance in the absence of full-time Food Service Workers.
  • Work under the direction of the School District's Food Services Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow sign-in/sign-out procedures.
  • Assist in food preparation and service.
  • Dress appropriately as per KE Standards of Professional Conduct.
  • Adhere to food safety, storage, and sanitation procedures.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely.
  • Assist with money and meal accountability.
  • Cooperate to create a positive dining experience.
  • Report injuries, property damage, or theft immediately.
  • Allow students to visit the nurse or restroom without judgment.
  • Notify Kelly Education of any changes in job duties.

Unacceptable Duties:

  • No sole supervisory responsibility for students.
  • No participation in physical activities with students.
  • No administering medication or diagnosing injuries/illnesses.
  • No physical contact with students.
  • No sole supervision of the cafeteria.
  • No one-on-one contact with special needs students.
  • No lifting over 25 pounds.
