Assembly Technician 1

SUMMARY
The Assembly Technician I is responsible for the accurate and efficient mechanical assembly of natural gas fuel systems in various production areas. This role involves hands-on work, using tooling and equipment to assemble parts and sub-assemblies.

KEY OBJECTIVES
Additional duties may be assigned as needed based on business requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Understand the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies through the manufacturing and assembly process.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, production schedules, and operation sheets to determine the sequence of operations and materials needed.
  • Assemble sub-assemblies, structural parts, and plumbing for fuel systems.
  • Follow the assembly standard work process to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Inspect components for consistency and critical fits during assembly.
  • Check all assembly work to ensure defect-free assembly before final quality control inspection.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain various tooling and equipment.
  • Complete both handwritten and electronic documentation to ensure compliance with internal, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and execute Lean assembly activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with accuracy and good time management.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in manufacturing or a related industry is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Personal computer skills and familiarity with ERP business systems software required.
  • Must obtain Texas Railroad Commission certification for CNG service and installation within 45 days of hire.
  • Must gain proficiency in assigned function on the assembly line.
  • If required to drive, must possess a current and valid driver's license and meet the company's insurance guidelines.

LIFTING REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
