Kelly is currently seeking an Associate Laboratory Technician for a long-term opportunity in the Midland, MI area!
Responsibilities:
- Learn and execute testing methods- steps include sample preparation, testing methods, data reporting and assessment protocols, etc.
- Testing scope includes mechanical, thermal, physical properties on our products. You will be using construction tools- e.g. table saws, band saws and hand-held power tools for sample preparation.
- Learn and run small scale flammability testing, small scale polymer processing equipment (such as blending, extruding, molding) and some standard analytical testing (TGA/ FTIR/ DSC/ etc.)
- Collect and compile data from tests. Able to check data and flag noteworthy patterns or observations to researcher.
- Generate data reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Accountable for own contributions in a timely manner. Be proactive in seeking additional responsibilities
- Work well in a team- Understand different viewpoints and collaborate with diverse teams. Communicate clearly and respectfully with team and customers. Be a thought partner to develop effective test/ process research plan
- Share in lab housekeeping, facility organization, and equipment maintenance activities. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the lab.
Qualifications:
- Ability to learn testing methods and use of test equipment- Part testing: Variety of building and construction products such as foam board, tapes and house wrap.
- Pays attention to working safely
- Conducting tests accurately
- Able to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Comfortable using Office 365 tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must have strong time management and organization skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Fluency in English language
- Ability to lift 30-50 lbs of weight from time to time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher (in STEM field) is preferred but not necessary
