Business Analyst (Contract to Hire)
**$55K - $65K/year or more DOE**
*100% onsite in Alexandria, VA*
*Requires an active SECRET security clearance to start*
Job Description:
Our customer is seeking an experienced Business Analyst with at least three (3) years of proven experience in business analysis and Scrum Master roles within Agile software development projects. This position will focus on modernizing legacy applications from the ground up, utilizing the SAFe Agile framework to deliver high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, driving clarity, alignment, and execution in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document detailed business and functional requirements for software development projects
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and PI planning sessions, ensuring effective team collaboration and alignment
- Translate business requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria, maintaining a well-organized product backlog
- Serve as a liaison between business teams, product owners, and development teams, ensuring clear communication and mutual understanding
- Support legacy application modernization efforts, helping to design new systems from scratch that align with business goals and technical capabilities
- Identify and document current processes and workflows, proposing streamlined and efficient future-state processes
- Guide the team in adhering to SAFe Agile principles and best practices, driving continuous improvement and iterative development
- Manage risks, dependencies, and blockers, escalating as needed to ensure timely project delivery
- Provide training to users on customer applications
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a business analyst in Agile software development projects, with additional experience as a Scrum Master
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with the SAFe Agile framework
- Demonstrated ability to gather, document, and communicate complex business requirements effectively
- Proficiency in creating artifacts such as user stories, process flows, wireframes, and mockups
- Relevant training and/or certifications in: SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Active secret clearance
- IAT I Certification IAW DoD (For DoD IAT Level 1, you must have one of the following certifications - A+ CE, CCNA-Security, Network+ CE, SSCP, or IAT II or III
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- SAFe certifications such as SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM)
- Experience working in projects involving cloud migration or large-scale enterprise applications
- Familiarity with legacy systems and modernization strategies

- May require extended hours during project deadlines or system implementations
