Location: Memphis, TN
Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts (2 days 7AM–7PM, 2 nights 7PM–7AM, followed by 4 days off)
Pay: $22/hour
This position provides analytical support to plant operations and R&D teams through the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process samples, final product samples, and shipments. This hands-on lab role also involves calibration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of laboratory practices and instrumentation—all within a highly regulated ISO 9001 environment.
Key Responsibilities Laboratory Support- Conduct analytical testing on raw materials, in-process materials, environmental samples, and final products.
- Perform assays using techniques such as pH, HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, and IR Spectrophotometry.
- Verify and calibrate lab equipment in accordance with ASTM methods and manufacturer recommendations.
- Perform minor troubleshooting and maintenance on lab instruments.
- Participate in developing and refining test methods to improve lab performance.
- Work collaboratively with R&D and plant teams to support process optimization and troubleshooting.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and internal SH&E (Safety, Health & Environmental) policies.
- Provide analytical data to support plant compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate testing schedules to meet operational and R&D priorities.
- Accurately enter test results into QC databases and SAP.
- Generate routine lab reports and assist with identifying trends using SPC and control charting.
- Maintain detailed records for all testing and calibration activities.
- Contribute to the drafting and editing of standard operating procedures and technical reports.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in lab testing and documentation
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex problems
- Collaborative and clear communicator across teams and departments
- Commitment to safety and compliance in a regulated lab environment
- Adaptable to changing project priorities and lab schedules
- Solid knowledge of analytical chemistry and instrument operation (HPLC, GC, GC-MS, etc.)
- Experience with QA/QC practices, SPC, SQC, and statistical methods
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and lab information systems
- Comfortable supporting both routine production and R&D efforts
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field required
- 1+ years of laboratory experience in a chemical plant or industrial setting preferred
- Will review new graduates with chemistry laboratory experience in school.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, regulatory testing methods, and analytical method development
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
