Clinical Outsourcing Manager

- Location: Remote/Hybrid – South San Francisco, CA (preference will be given to local for occasional in-person vendor/bid defense meetings)
- Job Opportunity: Part-Time/Temporary (potential to extend)
- Duration: 6 Months
- Hours: 20 Hours/Week (potential for more depending on need)
Position Overview
The Clinical Outsourcing Manager is responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end vendor outsourcing lifecycle within the clinical department. This includes activities ranging from RFP/RFI generation and vendor selection to contract negotiation, budget management, performance oversight, and ensuring compliance. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of clinical trial processes, vendor functions, and financial oversight, coupled with excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively manage cross-functional relationships. This role is critical in ensuring the successful execution of clinical trials through strategic outsourcing and effective vendor management.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the vendor outsourcing lifecycle within clinical (e.g., CROs, central labs, imaging, IRT).
- Issue requests for proposals (RFPs/RFIs).
- Solicit bids, coordinate vendor evaluations, compare pricing/technical proposals.
- Assist with bid defense meetings, including preparing materials, answering vendor questions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience in clinical outsourcing, vendor management, or clinical operations in biotech/pharma.
- Strong understanding of clinical trial processes, vendor functions (CROs, labs, imaging, etc.).
- Experience preparing and evaluating RFPs/RFIs, negotiating vendor contracts, managing change orders.
- Comfortable with budgeting, financial oversight, cost tracking (within clinical).
- Excellent communication skills, ability to navigate cross functional teams (legal, finance, clinical).
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple vendor relationships.
- Some availability to support in person or local meetings (if located nearby).
- Remote capable but preferably local/within a reasonable travel radius to SF Bay Area.
