POSITION SUMMARY: 

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking a meticulous and efficient Data Manager to support the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) and the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology (LCIM). This role involves a range of data management tasks, including scanning documents, performing data entry, coding fields using biomedical ontologies, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of clinical and research data. The Data Manager will also perform system testing, provide feedback, and generate required reports while maintaining strict adherence to data security and confidentiality protocols. This position demands effective communication skills to coordinate with various departments, ensure data completeness, and assist in the preparation of research presentations and documentation for quality assurance audits. 

 

TASKS. The contractor shall: 

  • Scan documents and perform data entry of information into electronic systems via web interfaces or uploads. 

  • Handle data from diverse sources including electronic databases, hardcopy sources, and clinical laboratory tests. 

  • Code data fields using biomedical ontologies where applicable. 

  • Participate in system testing to verify functionality and provide user feedback on data entry and retrieval. 

  • Communicate with responsible parties to keep data systems up-to-date. 

  • Perform data accuracy reviews and verify entered data by checking for errors and making corrections. 

  • Extract data and generate reports as required. 

  • Adhere to study-specific procedures and data management compliance. 

  • Schedule and submit study files for quality assurance audits and assist in coordinating corrective actions. 

  • Ensure data completeness, integrity, and consistency through routine verification and quality control. 

  • Handle all confidential material, adhering strictly to data security and confidentiality requirements. 

  • Verify patient information against source documents following established guidelines. 

  • Coordinate research presentations for weekly seminars, clinical, and NCGP meetings and document minutes. 

  • Liaise with other departments to enhance the Genomic Research Integration System (GRIS) and provide administrative support for users. 

  • Assist in tasks related to ongoing protocols, including preparing submissions for IRB review and integrating lab sample data. 

  • Coordinate with sequencing facilities to streamline data transfer to their databases. 

 

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in data management. 

  • Effective communication skills for working in a team environment. 

  • Experience in handling confidential material and adhering to data security and confidentiality protocols. 

  • Thorough knowledge of data management processes. 

  • Proficiency with electronic data systems and ETL tools (Extract, Transform, Load).
