This is a direct hire opportunity, meaning you will be hired permanently with our client and offered their benefit and vacation package upon hire!
Salary:
- $26.91/hr
- Raises at 6 months, 12 months, and union contracted annual raises
Shift:
- 1st shift: Mon-Fri | 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Option OT available

Summary: As a machinist at the Akron, NY location, you will be responsible for setting up and performing various machining operations on a wide range of parts made of castings, weldments and stock bars.
Responsibilities:
- Perform own setups according to program directives, using shims, blocks, supports, and fixtures to ensure proper alignment of parts.
- Interpret drawings, sketches, process sheets, and specifications to determine operation sequence.
- Set-up and operate both CNC and manual machines simultaneously.
- Operate CNC machine controls, computers, and software, with the ability to edit code when necessary.
- Check and inspect work to ensure compliance with drawing specifications, program directives, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with Programmers, Group Leaders, Methods Engineers, and Management to standardize work processes and procedures.
- Deburr parts during machining operations using hand tools and hand-operated power tools.
- Keep standard production times to achieve efficiency demands
- Assist with related secondary functions such as drilling, countersinking, tapping, and the removal of broken taps or drills.
- Work effectively in a team environment and provide assistance to others when needed.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials processed, and any program changes.
- Change and replace broken or dulled tools as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One to Two years of experience in Mill Machining or equivalent educational/training certificate.
- Experience in rigging and overhead cranes.
- Knowledge of GD&T is a requirement
- Ability to work with both metric and imperial measurements
- Able to use inspection instruments such as calipers, micrometers, indicators etc.
