Job Title: CNC Machinist

Location: O'Fallon
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: $30/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm

Objective The CNC Machinist is responsible for CNC shape cutting parts for aerospace work stands and tooling, ensuring adherence to machining practices and procedures. This role relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, utilizing standard shop procedures, mechanical drawings, and other instructions. Working under direct supervision, the CNC Machinist performs a variety of tasks while maintaining a focus on quality and efficiency. Responsibilities
  • Setup and Operations:
    • Set up fixturing and precision measuring equipment to produce an acceptable first piece.
    • Prepare tooling, fixturing, gauges, materials, and necessary paperwork.
    • Complete all documentation per company policy for first piece approval.
  • Machinery Maintenance:
    • Keep machinery and work area clean, safe, maintained, and organized.
    • Perform sharpening tasks, offsets, and adjustments as needed for tool wear within current programs.
  • Quality Control:
    • Measure and check parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
    • Monitor machining times, optimize processes, and suggest improvements.
  • CNC Programming:
    • Write, create, test, and optimize CNC programs.
    • Implement program revisions to refine existing processes.
  • Collaboration and Training:
    • Work closely with machinists, programmers, and supervisors, demonstrating commitment to teamwork.
    • Assist in determining department priorities and supply personnel with needed resources.
    • Provide training to new and less skilled employees.
  • Production Standards:
    • Assist in setting production standards and ensuring achievement.
    • Monitor and make authorized changes to job-specific tooling and fixtures.
    • Ensure all employees use proper PPE and machine guarding.
Additional Duties
  • Assist in de-burring, cleaning, and refining product throughput through additional operations.
  • Validate and implement setup, run-time changes, or other improvements by team members.
  • Identify and correct or report safety hazards as required.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated math skills: comprehension of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
  • Strong knowledge of machining equipment, fixturing, and precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to operate the Milltronics RH15 and Mazak 40 Lathe at or above company standards for both time and quality.
  • Proficiency in identifying steel shapes and sizes.
  • Experience with both hand, manual, and automatic machinery setup.
  • Ability to provide troubleshooting support and maintain a focus on continuous improvement.
