CNC Set Up Machinist
Grand Rapids, MI
$24 - $32/hour

Kelly Services, in collaboration with a leading client, is looking to hire several CNC Machinists to join the client's team on a permanent basis. Our client is experiencing ongoing growth and business expansion into 2025, having recently secured a new seven-year government contract. Details:

  • Hiring for multiple shifts!
  • 3rd shift: 7:30 PM - 6:00 AM, Monday to Thursday
  • 1st shift: 6am – 4:30pm, Monday to Thursday
  • Weekend shift: 6am to 6pm, Friday to Sunday
Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently set up jobs and operate CNC Mills and/or Lathes to ensure the production of accurate parts. This includes configuring machine settings, installing tools, and preparing materials according to process documentation.
  • Thoroughly perform first-piece setups and inspections using tools such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges, and CMM equipment to validate setup precision before production runs.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspection using tools such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges, and CMM equipment as per process documentation.
  • Perform operator-level maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or tooling issues.
  • Execute de-burring or reworking of in-process work.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in CNC Mill operations or equivalent relevant equipment.
  • Proficiency in using common measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges (pin, thread, indicator, height), optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Skillful in reading blueprints according to GD&T standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications.
  • Aptitude for performing basic mathematical functions.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds periodically.
