Role Overview:
The Commercial Manager is responsible for executing business strategies and managing distributor relationships for commercial channels in Puerto Rico. The role includes ownership of annual business planning, business growth targets, and overall P&L execution. This position requires strategic partnership with regional teams to drive localized initiatives in alignment with broader company priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement short- and long-term commercial strategies to achieve business ambitions
- Lead annual business planning and deliver business growth through distributor management
- Manage overall profit and loss, monitor investment plans, and evaluate route-to-market improvements
- Align market insights and strategies with commercial, marketing, and functional initiatives
- Foster a positive and engaging work environment that encourages growth, inclusivity, and team development
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local regulations and company policies
- 8+ years of commercial/business development experience in FMCG, national alcoholic beverage, or related companies (advantageous)
- 4-5 years' experience in distributor/wholesaler management with proven records of producing incremental results while maintaining customer profitability
- 2-3 years' experience in team management (direct or indirect) and collaborating with regional cross-functional teams, achieving goals on-time with limited resources in a dynamic and competitive market
- Proven track record of cultivating and growing strong relationships with key external and internal partners across diverse cultures
- Ability to take a hands-on approach toward managing tactical as well as strategic work
- Ability to analyze key business drivers and their financial implications on P&L, balance sheet, and cash flows
- Strong skills in leveraging data for decision making (such as forecasting to estimate market demand)
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and grow channels and channel partners
- Proven experience leading tough negotiations, including high-risk discussions with key stakeholders
- Capacity to deal with ambiguous problems and develop cross-functional solutions
- Supports the local channel strategy and takes accountability for outcomes, constantly seeking improvements
- Thrives in ambiguity and turbulence; effectively manages uncertainty for both distributor and internal stakeholders
- Successfully builds relationships and earns the trust and rapport of distributor partners and key customers at multiple levels and across functions
- Combines local and international mindset while working across cities to unite and leverage collective team expertise
- Champions entrepreneurial thinking and action
- Acts as an agent of change, taking responsibility and ownership for the future direction of the business
- Experienced in working within multi-cultural teams
