Job Opportunity: Component Engineer – Mechanical/Electrical
Location: Andover, MA (Hybrid)
Duration: 5+ months
Shift: 9-80 Shift

Our client is seeking a Component or Mechanical Engineer to work in the global component engineering department. The ideal candidate will have: Familiarity working on high-reliability/mission-critical systems for national defense and space applications; A working knowledge of common EEE Electrical and Mechanical components.
Responsibilities:

  • Create specifications and part numbers for the release of new component part numbers for Development.
  • Broad based Mechanical / Electrical Hardware engineering background
  • Support Development Engineering for sourcing activities to identify industrial or military grade components for our military or industrial applications.                                   
  • Responsible for all Supplier Product Change Notice (PCN) notifications to include identifying new/replacement source of supply, qualification plans and AML approvals.
  • Track and Manage approved RoHS components to new internal part numbers. 
  • Management of Bills of material (BOM) from lead to lead-free components.
  • Perform research and material analysis on the current global compliance directives including REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, WEEE
  • GIDEP Representative for our client. Monitor weekly summaries & part listings for obsolescence, EOL, part changes, Errata's and any other reliability /quality issues.
  • Support Supply Chain initiative for Conflict Minerals regarding 3T's & G. Identify new sources of supply for those supplies that utilize material deemed to be “Conflict” per the Frank Dodd Act.

Qualifications: To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical discipline or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of related working experience preferred
  • Working knowledge and understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as IPC, ISO, REACH and RoHS, is essential for ensuring compliance and maintaining quality.
  • Able to create procedure and reports for parts obsolescence studies of electronic and mechanical assemblies.
  • Able to perform independent research/identify/select components and also perform failure analysis on Elect/Mech parts & assemblies
  • Working knowledge of Engineering Bill of Materials
  • Background in circuit card electrical component selection and engineering skills
  • Understanding of Engineering release process, Part/Component reliability and design concerns in Circuit Card applications
  • Broad based Mechanical / Electrical Hardware engineering background
  • Excellent Interpersonal and multi-tasking skills
  • Able to demonstrate good hands-on engineering skill and detailed oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge in MS office skills (Excel, Word, etc...)
  • Understand PLM and good practical experience in Agile & Oracle is a plus
  • Experience with parts/components obsolescence reporting and tracking
  • Developing innovative technical solutions to obsolescence problems that require creativity with little to no supervision.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, purchasing, commodity management, quality engineering, and work with vendors and contract manufacturers.
  • Participates in the development of new designs to correct problems before products are released to manufacturing.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
