Job Title: Receiving Dock Inventory Handler (Apprentice Plan – Performance-Based Increases)
Location: Highland Park, MI
Shift: 3rd Shift: Sunday–Thursday, 6:00 PM – 2:30 AM or 7:00 PM – 3:30 AM. Training on 1st shift may be required.
Pay Rate: $16 + 7.5% increase for shift differential.
Position Summary:
Kelly Services is seeking motivated individuals for the Receiving Dock Inventory Handler role as part of an apprentice program. This role is responsible for efficiently and accurately managing incoming shipments and materials within the warehouse, including receiving, inspecting, documenting, and storing inventory items while following safety and standard operating procedures. Performance-based increases will be awarded based on performance reviews and successful completion of required trainings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight and verify materials against packing slips and purchase orders
- Document and label materials accurately using inventory systems and forms
- Identify and report any discrepancies or damage in received goods
- Organize and stage materials for storage or production use
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the dock and surrounding warehouse areas
- Collaborate with inventory control, production, and logistics teams as needed
- Use warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts and pallet jacks (once certified)
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines
Training Requirements:
All Receiving Dock Inventory Handlers will complete training on:
- Receiving Process
- Powered Industrial Truck Licensing and Renewal
- BLS Unit of Measure Reference Sheet
- Corporate Operations Guidelines
- Loading Inspection Procedures
- Safety Harness Instructions
- Basic HRT Walk Through
- General Warehouse – Shipping & Receiving – Loading Dock Safety
- Scale Counting Instructions
- Daily Equipment Inspection List Instructions
- License Plate Reference
- Operations Equipment Usage Guidelines
- Receiving Process Instructions
- Returns Process Instructions (as required)
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous warehouse or receiving experience is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable using warehouse technology and learning new processes
- Willingness to complete all required safety and process training
Additional Information:
- This is a long-term temporary/apprentice role with performance-based pay increases
- Flexibility for 3rd shift schedule; 1st shift training may be required
