- Salary: $110,000-160,000/year
- Travel requirement: 40% both domestic and international
Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a highly skilled Electrochemist (Principal Engineer) to lead and execute innovative research and development programs within mineral processing. This role is responsible for driving complex and technology projects aligned with the strategic objectives of the Mining Solutions business. Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute mineral processing R&D programs to deliver new and improved products, technologies, and applications.
- Design and implement laboratory, pilot, and field testing protocols to validate and commercialize innovative solutions.
- Provide strategic input to the innovation portfolio, balancing incremental improvements and breakthrough technologies.
- Develop and assess feasibility of new ideas through experimental design and testing.
- Build a strong fundamental and application knowledge base for existing and new products.
- Lead pilot and industrial-scale trials in collaboration with internal teams and customers.
- Document and communicate research findings effectively to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&I Synthesis, Analytical, Manufacturing, Commercial, Sales, and customer teams.
- Identify intellectual property opportunities and support patent filings and product registrations.
- Stay current with technical literature, flotation technology advancements, and industry trends.
- Present technical papers at strategic industry conferences.
- Provide expert technical advice and support to key and strategic customers.
- Mentor and coach R&I colleagues while strengthening technical application expertise within the global TS&D team.
- Demonstrate and promote positive safety behaviors in alignment with best practices.
- Engineering or chemistry related Master of Science or PhD degree, preferably in Mining with Flotation knowledge, Metallurgy, Materials Science or Surface Chemistry.
- 8+ years' experience in specialty chemicals applications. Experience in mining chemical applications and commercialization of new technologies is required. Experience in R&D or industry setting is preferred.
- Hands-on laboratory, pilot, and industrial experience in flotation is required
- Capacity to innovate and curiosity towards chemical technologies & product
- Good knowledge in one or more of the following areas is preferred: chemistry, mineralogy, colloid and surface chemistry, electrochemistry
- Knowledge of experimental design, statistics and data analysis is preferred
- Ability to teach and coach peers in novel methodologies and flotation technologies is desirable.
- Should be self-motivated and results oriented.
- Good organizational and prioritization skills to manage the workload and ability to work autonomously
