Job Title: Fabrication Quality Engineer
Location: Dubuque, IA (Onsite)
Assignment Length: 12 Months (As a W2 employee of KellyOCG)
Pay Rate: $40.00ph
Shift Information: 1st Shift, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, 40 hours/week (OT hours may be requested; no travel required)
Work Environment: Fully onsite supporting active production areas; frequent presence required on the shop floor around welding, fabrication, and automated equipment. Metatarsal safety boots required on Day 1; PPE per area standards.

Visa sponsorship is not available, now or in the future, for this position. Cross border work is not permitted for this role.

This role is ideal for candidates experienced in manufacturing quality—particularly fabrication and welding—and ready to engage directly on the production floor.

 

Position Overview:
As a Fabrication Quality Engineer, you will support quality activities for fabrication in skid steer boom, main frame, and pre-paint operations. You'll conduct in-process quality checks and audits, document and contain non-conformances, collaborate with welders and inspectors to resolve repeat quality issues, and ensure adherence to weld requirements and inspection criteria.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and monitor quality activities in fabrication and pre-paint operations to uphold standard work and safety
  • Conduct in-process quality checks and audits following established guidelines
  • Document non-conformances, initiate containment, and coordinate with Quality team for material disposition
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards, weld requirements, and inspection criteria
  • Work directly with inspectors and welders to identify and resolve repeat quality problems

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Weld Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably fabrication or welding
  • Strong problem-solving skills with root cause analysis ability
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, inspection criteria, and non-conformance documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with operators, skilled trades, and engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with welding processes, fixtures, jigs, and fabrication tooling
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools (Lean, 5S, ergonomic assessments)
  • Experience working in a union environment

Additional Information:

  • This is a fully onsite role with no travel required
  • Flexibility is required for occasional early or late hours to support shift handoff
  • PPE required according to area standards
