Facilities Maintenance Technician

Shift: 1st
Salary Range: $18.00–$25.00 per hour DOE

A well-established manufacturing company, with over 50 years of success in the East Syracuse area, is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join its team on first shift. This company specializes in prototyped and low-volume production machined castings and offers a dynamic, team-oriented work environment. Position Summary:
This role involves semi-skilled work in building and grounds maintenance. The technician performs a variety of routine maintenance and repair duties to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of company facilities. Tasks may be performed indoors or outdoors, sometimes under adverse weather conditions. This is not a skilled trade position. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance including light plumbing, painting, sheetrock patching, tile repair, and changing light bulbs and ballasts.
  • Conduct basic carpentry, apply floor coatings, attach baseboard edging, and perform routine filter changes.
  • Carry out exterior maintenance tasks such as snow removal, power washing, salting walkways, and seasonal groundskeeping.
  • Complete inspections and document maintenance activities to ensure facility cleanliness and safety.
  • Maintain janitorial supplies and stock supply rooms.
  • Use cleaning and maintenance equipment such as vacuums, mops, floor cleaners, etc.
  • Follow health and safety protocols and complete assigned checklists and reports in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to company policies and ISO quality standards.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in general building maintenance or construction.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; personal transportation is required for travel between company facilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, shovels, and paintbrushes.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions and interpret work orders.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, reach, stoop, and push/pull objects as required.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions, including snow removal in winter.
