Overview

This client is an industry-leading nutrition company focused on changing live with good energy.  
In this role you'll be supporting product development for both brands and will work on both ready-to-drink (RTD) and ready-to-mix (RTM) formulations.

Schedule: M-F

Responsibilities:

  • Independently complete product development related tasks on time.
  • Responsible for execution of all assigned projects and alignment with project scope, brief, processes, business standards and practices. Responsible for product compliance (food safety, ingredient usage, NLEA information, product claims) against internal and external standards (FDA, USDA, and third-party certification) through collaboration with regulatory, QA, marketing, and other parties. Work closely with suppliers to develop formulations within tight timelines.
  • Responsible for generating bench samples and working with pilot plant technician to run samples through the pilot plant as needed to support project.
  • Ensure successful scale-up to commercial production through collaboration with operations, QA, marketing and external co-mans by aligning on process capabilities and finished product specifications.
  • Lead and provide technical updates on a variety of R&D projects, ensuring alignment throughout the course of project lifecycles.
  • As needed, update technical documents and templates with current information.
  • Support multiple large scope projects and experimental workstreams.
  • Maintain documents capturing analytical data from lab and trial testing.
  • Help build overview charts for ingredient screening and levels tested.
  • Screen ingredients to support rapid prototyping.
  • Enter ingredients and formulas into nutritional software as part of preliminary scoping of formula.
  • Collect and review documentation from various suppliers.
  • Conduct analytical testing on samples (viscosity, pH, solids, particle size)
  • Weigh out of ingredients to support work.
  • Support internal pilot plant runs by providing batching and processing support.
  • Job requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction when needed.

Qualifications:
  • BS in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar disciplines AND 5+ years of experience in the Food industry (CPG) within Food Product Development (dairy protein based or RTD products).
  • • MS in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar disciplines AND 0 - 2+ years of experience in the Food industry (CPG) within Food Product Development (dairy protein-based or RTD products).
  • Ability to taste different formulations and describe differences in taste profile and dial in specific flavor profiles.
  • Ability to conduct rapid prototyping development under tight timelines.
  • Strong technical knowledge to solve complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement suitable solutions. Possess curiosity, creativity, and alternative thinking to develop new innovative solutions.
  • Being a confident and independent worker with great communication skills. Critical thinking ability to explain complex technical subject matters to non-technical personnel. Communicate technical details to team leaders to drive decision making. Demonstrated presentation skills to ensure understanding at various levels within R&D.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment through excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to excel in dynamic fast paced business environment, demonstrated ability to self-motivate and manage multiple priorities.
  • Solid understanding of food industry standards for quality and regulatory
