Food Scientist
 
Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Food Scientist for a 6-month position at health and wellness client in Pleasanton, CA. If you're passionate about bringing the latest scientific discoveries to life and are ready to take the next step in your career, trust The Experts at Hiring Experts.

Pay Rate:  
$45/hour

Schedule: 
Monday-Friday, standard working hours
 
Responsibilities:

  • Design experimental formulation and or procedures for development of prototypes for assigned projects, with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct required product development activities from bench-top to commercial scale to meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate on-site plant trials at contract manufacturing facilities.
  • Document all product development activities.
  • Develop and/or review product labeling.
  • Ensure projects meet schedule deadlines and budget.
  • Perform stability studies on prototypes, pilot and commercial products, as required.
  • Provide support to contract manufacturers to resolve/improve raw materials, processing and product issues as needed.
  • Ensure the Foods lab is kept in proper order, instruments are calibrated, and adequate supplies, raw materials and products are kept in stock.
  • Provide support to all other Shaklee departments as needed.
  • Evaluate and approve new or alternative raw materials per the approved procedures.
  • Stay abreast of industry innovations and new developments by reading, networking, attending in-house presentations or outside related seminars/courses
  • Other related duties, as required and assigned.

Qualifications:
  • BS in a science-related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience with formulation and development of food products such as protein blends, sport drinks and/or nutritional bars.
  • Knowledgeable on GMP procedures and practices.
  • Knowledgeable on analytical equipment/testing/data analysis/interpretation.
  • Knowledgeable on food ingredients including proteins, vitamins, minerals, fats, gums, sweeteners, flavors and colors.
  • May require travel up to 15% of the time.
