Location: Colfax, NC
Shift: 5:00AM – 3:30PM Monday-Friday; OT as needed
Pay: $19.60/hr.
Duration: Contract-to-Hire

What your day in this role might involve at OC Colfax:
- The primary purpose of this position is to receive freight in a safe manner while minimizing damage to product and properly receiving inventory into QAD.
- This position will assist with the operation of the Finger Jointer machine, including feeding, tailing, assisting the operator during changeovers, and chopping cutbacks.
- Obtain forklift certification.
- Follow all forklift rules and safety regulations.
- Unload trailers safely and securely.
- Make sure all units are tagged and banded securely before placing material in bays.
- Properly carry loads at a safe speed per forklift training.
- Maintain safety around pedestrians and work center personnel.
- Keep bays of material in order and organized and safe.
- Maintain good communication with other lift drivers on common, as well as off shifts.
- Master all RF and QAD functions related to material handling.
- Perform end of shift work center audits and notify supervision and inventory control of issues.
- Develop an understanding of how blanks produced are associated with the products Endura makes.
- Ensure that guarding is in place and in good condition.
- Learn the Finger Jointer production process and machines associated with production.
- Follow directions from the lead, machine operator, and supervisor.
- Meet or exceed efficiency goal for grading and feeding the machine.
- Grade and stack blanks safely and efficiently.
- Assist the operator with changeovers.
- Learn to operate the Chop Saw safely and efficiently to assist with cutbacks.
- Follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
- Perform all quality checks.
- Exercise excellent housekeeping and organization habits.
- Assist with preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Report any forklift damage, building damage, and machine problems immediately.
- Observe all safety rules and regulations.
- Wear PPE during the entire shift.
What makes a successful OC colfax team member:
Must haves include…
- High School Diploma or GED and be at least 18 Years Old.
- Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and effectively work as part of a team.
- Able to read, write, and understand to interpret documents.
- Experience using Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Basic math skills.
- Read caliper, and measuring tape to 1/32nd.
- Must have hand-eye coordination.
Would be terrific if you also had…
- Prior experience operating a saw and other hand tools, a plus.
- Prior experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures, a plus.
There are some essential physical requirements specific to our work environment, including being able to:
- Lift 35lbs.
- Sit and stand for 10 hours straight.
- Climb and descend stairs as needed for the role.
- Do repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg; bending and twisting at the waist; bending at the knee; squatting; lift, push and pull 35-pounds).
- Withstand exposure to temperature extremes; sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable.
- Be exposed to wood dust and aluminum with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent.
