Job Title: Full-Charge Bookkeeper
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
Work Schedule: In-Office Monday–Thursday | Remote Fridays
Salary: $60,000–$65,000
Placement Type: Direct Hire or Temp-to-Hire

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Full-Charge Bookkeeper to oversee accounting functions for multiple entities. In this role, you will manage day-to-day accounting activities, prepare reconciliations, support the month-end close process, and generate accurate financial reports across the portfolio of entities. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized and independent professional who thrives in a multi-entity environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record and categorize bank and credit card activity, vendor bills, tenant receipts, owner distributions, and transfers

  • Maintain accurate intercompany due-to/due-from tracking across entities

  • Process weekly check runs and vendor payments for multiple entities

  • Run monthly financials for all entities (P&L, Balance Sheet, GL detail)

  • Complete month-end general ledger reconciliations for each entity

  • Prepare and post recurring monthly journal entries

Qualifications
  • Minimum associate's degree in accounting

  • QuickBooks experience required

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or staff accounting experience; multi-entity experience strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements

  • High attention to detail, organization, and independent follow-through

  • Clear written and verbal communication; confident in flagging issues early
