Description

Kelly Government Solutions is a strategic supplier and business partner to the federal government and its key suppliers.  Through our partnership with the National Institutes of Health, Kelly Government Solutions offers administrative, IT, engineering, scientific, and healthcare professionals the opportunity to work with the leading medical research center in the world.  We are seeking an experienced individual to work as a Genetic Counselor at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.  Role requires on-site work to be performed on the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. 

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall: 
(1) Communicate pertinent medical, genetic, and psychosocial information including recurrence risk assessment and family planning options to patients and their family members
(2) Provide initial psychosocial assessments of patients and refer for continued care. 
(3) Serve as a liaison with genetics/genetic counseling societies, patient support groups and other non-governmental agencies interested in inherited diseases
(4) Assist in clinical and translational research in the Branch, including performing reviews of relevant medical/scientific literature, organizing data, and writing manuscripts for publication; discuss the data with the Federal Task Leader, lab staff, and other collaborators as needed. 
(5) Construct family pedigrees, contact family members, aid in obtaining genetic specimens, and facilitate proper clinical and research molecular testing. 
(6) Participate in ongoing clinical quality control within the lab, making suggestions for how to best integrate and execute genetic services in the NIH. 
(7) Assist in conducting behavioral and genetic counseling research. 
(8) Evaluate the potential impact of legislation, papers, reports, and other information on current and planned genetic counseling activities and recommends appropriate action. 
(9) Brief lab personnel on emerging genetic and genetic counseling issues and recommend responses to such issues. 
(10) Assist in the preparation and execution of relevant research protocols. 

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:
(1) Master's degree in Genetic Counseling 
(2) Certified or board eligible as a Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling; position requires credentialing by NIH Clinical Center
(3) Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a clinical research setting preferred. 
(4) Knowledge pertaining to privacy of the patient, privileged information and secure handling of the patient's medical records. 
(5) Ability to work on-site at the NIH clinical center in Bethesda, MD
