Geotechnical/ Civil Engineer (Richland, WA)
P.E. with Civil Engineer or Geotechnical background needed. Our client, a full-service design engineering, environmental consulting, and geotechnical services firm, is currently hiring a Civil Engineer that will need to be based in Richland, WA.
Since 2003, company has provided professional services in Richland, Washington, on four (4) major projects, and provided CQA for construction services. The Department of Energy (DOE) had overall responsibility for the site with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S.EPA) and the Washington State Department of Ecology provided oversight services. The four (4) project scopes included providing Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) and Final Construction Certification services for landfills designed to contain low-level nuclear and hazardous waste.
Projects in Richland have grown so much a Full-time Engineer is needed onsite in Richland. Primary role will include CQA (Civil Engineering Management and Quality Assurance for Construction services, and for earthwork and geosynthetics, as well as leachate and infrastructure piping and control systems (Geotechnical). The role of the new hire, the Civil Engineer, will also manage decommissioning work; D.O.E. requires an Engineer to be onsite managing the project work, hence the need for the new hire (the current Owner's Rep. managing the Engineering work also runs the firm and does not have the means to be onsite).
Role requires a PE license in any state, with preference for experience in construction materials testing and landfills. Relocation expenses will be covered for the right hire. Must have a bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university with geotechnical engineering coursework. Must have a Professional Engineer's License.
Job Description:

This position is responsible for overseeing daily landfill construction. Responsibilities as the onsite Civil/ CQA Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the project construction meets the plans, specifications and CQA Manual, directing the work of the onsite field technicians, and compiling project documentation.
Responsibilities:
Work directly and closely with Envirotech Senior Management and the client to support the project through the technically challenging aspects.
Manage and budget for projects and opportunities.
Plan and coordinate daily work activities for the onsite technicians to include daily oversight, data collection, safety analysis, sample collection, and laboratory testing.
Maintain project reports for daily reports, photologs, field moisture density testing, geosynthetic documentation, and non-conformance logs.
Ensure calibration of laboratory equipment.
Coordinate and oversee construction oversight programs to ensure the successful completion of projects.
Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university with geotechnical engineering coursework.
Must have a Professional Engineer's License.
At least five years of relevant Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering experience, Construction Experience. Project Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred a minimum of one to two years of project management experience.
Have clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions in rugged and sometimes remote field locations.
Must have a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
