Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Overview
This Client is an industry leader in histology and molecular diagnostics, committed to advancing cancer care and diagnostic precision. In this role, you will work within a results-driven environment that values innovation, collaboration, and compassion while supporting the laboratory's daily operations.
You will be responsible for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination. Your tasks will include microtomy, tissue grossing, tissue processing, embedding, H&E staining, and quality control. This role requires close collaboration with the laboratory, pre-analytical team, and pathologists, ensuring compliance with state and national regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Precisely and accurately conduct a variety of routine and specialized histology procedures.
- Research, troubleshoot, and resolve histology-related inquiries and problems.
- Prepare microscopic slides on human tissue for research/diagnostic purposes, including processing, embedding, microtomy, and mounting.
- Maintain quality control and assurance procedures while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Organize and maintain laboratory reagents (stains, alcohols, paraffins).
- Accession and process specimens, including manual and computerized data entry.
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and report any irregularities.
- Train personnel and contribute to workflow and process improvements.
- Bachelor's or associate's degree in science (highly preferred).
- HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory, preferably in molecular diagnostics.
- Strong ability to cut and mount high-quality tissue sections from various tissue types, including needle biopsies.
- California Department of Health Services CEU compliance required.
- Experience managing people is a plus.
- Proficiency with major histology equipment brands is a plus.
