We're looking for an HR Manager to cover a 1-year contract for one of our clients located in Ottawa.

Salary: between: $85,000 to $90,000 depending on experience
Daily Schedule: Monday to Friday; 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The HR Manager will partner closely with HR leadership to support the execution and enhancement of key HR programs and initiatives. These include talent management, succession planning, performance management, recruitment, compensation planning, and employee relations. The HR Manager will contribute fresh insights to the team, assist in the development of strategic plans, and maintain a focus on delivering tangible results that support the overall organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leadership to assess associate performance, identify gaps, and recommend effective solutions to address business challenges.
- Ensure managers have the necessary tools, resources, and processes to implement effective HR practices and systems across the business.
- Establish trust with business leaders and provide guidance on leadership practices, including behavior, skills development, team building, decision-making, problem-solving, and general management.
- Offer day-to-day assistance in executing HR initiatives, ensuring the HR function is well-positioned to deliver operational excellence.
- Proactively address basic HR queries, assist with process navigation, and provide guidance on tools and forms to improve efficiency.
- Support the creation and deployment of tools and frameworks to help managers develop their teams (e.g., performance management, talent succession, development plans, corrective actions, etc.).
- Assist in driving employee engagement initiatives, including the creation and execution of action plans that contribute to a positive organizational culture.
- Support the planning and implementation of organizational changes, ensuring smooth transitions, and help leaders effectively manage change in their departments.
- Partner across teams to identify systemic opportunities for improvement, reinforcing a culture of continuous development.
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with team members and leadership to stay updated on new initiatives, changes, and business processes.
- Support the development and implementation of new systems, tools, and HR programs, ensuring seamless execution across the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, HR Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, particularly in operations, logistics, manufacturing, or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, processes, and programs, with a proven track record of applying them successfully.
- Demonstrated sense of urgency and a drive to achieve measurable outcomes.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and a proactive approach to addressing business issues.
- Experience in successfully executing change initiatives and supporting business leaders through transitions.
- Proven ability to work effectively across multiple departments and teams in a matrixed environment.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with the utmost discretion.
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to maintain a positive attitude and manage stress effectively.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required. Bilingualism in French and English is a significant asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR-related software tools.
