Title: Instrumentation & Controls Engineer
Location: Janesville, WI
Job Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Salary Range: $110K-$135K (Based on Experience)

SUMMARY
Kelly Engineering is seeking a skilled I&C Engineer to become a valuable member of our client's team for an exceptional opportunity in Janesville, WI. This position is with an innovative company specializing in medical manufacturing. As a pivotal team member, you will contribute significantly to a new medical isotope production facility by focusing on design, development, procurement, construction, installation, and testing of monitoring and control systems. Collaborating with a dynamic team, you'll be involved in designing control systems and selecting instruments and equipment for the facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide engineers in understanding I&C technology and taking ownership of relevant equipment.
  • Serve as the liaison between stakeholders and the I&C team.
  • Estimate task duration and effort for the creation of design products.
  • Make key decisions regarding vendor requests and programming changes.
  • Assume responsibility for specific I&C equipment, leading it through design to construction while meeting design standards.
  • Oversee reviews of vendor deliverables for digital and analog control systems (DCS, PLC, DAQ).
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines to select instruments for measuring process variables.
  • Coordinate with the Auxiliary Systems Group for power distribution to I&C equipment.
  • Develop instrument specifications, calculations, and test plans to support the medical isotope production facility's design and operation.
  • Design instrument cable routing, conduit and raceway layouts, installation drawings, and loop diagrams.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5-20+ years of experience in I&C engineering, with position level determined by experience.
  • Proficient in I&C systems, hardware, software, and environmental equipment, including plant start-ups and EQ testing.
  • Expertise in finalizing specifications and design for plant control and safety systems.
  • Experience with nuclear analog and digital instrumentation and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety systems (NQA-1) is preferred but not required.
  • Skilled in cable shielding, radiation tolerance, and safety train separation.
  • Strategic thinking and decisive action skills, supported by thorough information gathering.
  • Critical evaluation skills with the confidence to question unclear information.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
    • Development of requirements for plant control system programming using Allen Bradley hardware
    • PLC and SCADA HMI development and creation of PLC I/O design documents
    • Cable management and routing techniques
    • HMI programming
    • FPGA platform design for safety-related operations with vendors
