Description
Kelly Science & Clinical is currently recruiting candidates for an Iodine Process Engineer/Chemist position at a chemical company in northwest Houston. The overall responsibility of the position is to design, develop, and optimize the chemical and physical steps of extracting and purifying iodine from sources like natural brines.
Responsibilities:
- Works with methods like the blow-out process to recover iodine from brines, which involves acidification and oxidation
- Manages processes to achieve high-purity iodine, often involving techniques like separating iodine from brine and then solidifying it in a prill tower
- Developing processes for other applications, such as the sulfur-iodine water-splitting cycle for hydrogen production and the process for creating ultrapure titanium through the decomposition of titanium iodides in brine water
- PhD, MS, or BS Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
- Applicable experience in the field of iodine recovery from brines or additional sources
- Overall knowledge of chemical process engineering principles, thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and process control
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-based environment
