Job Title: Junior Accounting Clerk
Location: 100% On-Site – Carol Stream, IL
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00a - 5:00p
Pay Rate: $20–$21/hour
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire (TTH)

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a Junior Accounting Clerk to join our Carol Stream, IL operating division. This opening has become available due to an internal promotion. As part of a highly collaborative team, this role is essential in supporting both accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) functions, as well as providing general clerical and administrative assistance to the operations team.

This is a 100% on-site position, working Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable (AR):

  • Apply daily deposits to customer accounts

  • Handle collections, aging reports, and short payments

  • Investigate and resolve billing disputes, customer returns, pricing issues, and shortages

  • Enter credit and debit memos

  • Apply freight claims for damaged shipments

  • Issue customer invoices

Accounts Payable (AP):

  • Review, code, and process customer/vendor invoices (excluding electronic payments or cutting checks)

  • Identify and apply proper expense categories

Administrative & Clerical Duties:

  • Timekeeping: log and review payroll hours

  • Update and maintain sales tax exemption certificates

  • Provide support to operations managers and corporate office staff

  • General office tasks and ad hoc duties assigned by management

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 6+ months of experience in an office assistant, accounting, or clerical role

  • Basic understanding of AP/AR processes

  • Strong Excel skills: SUM formulas, formatting, sorting, date/number formatting

  • Detail-oriented with solid basic math skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Willingness to learn and support other departments as needed
