Kelly® Engineering is supporting a direct-hire opportunity for a Machine Vision Engineer with a well-established, privately held manufacturer headquartered in the St. Louis area. This organization designs and produces advanced technology-driven equipment used globally in automotive inspection, service, and measurement environments. Salary
$110,000 - $120,000

Overview
This role sits within an R&D engineering team focused on developing next-generation machine vision products. The Machine Vision Engineer II will contribute to new product development and sustainment activities, with a strong emphasis on vision algorithms, embedded electronics, and software. The position collaborates cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to bring vision-based systems from concept through validation and production.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to research, concept development, and design of machine vision-based products
  • Develop, implement, and test image processing and vision algorithms
  • Design and validate vision-related electronics at the board level
  • Support embedded and application-level software development
  • Enhance and maintain existing vision products as needed
  • Assist with development of factory test fixtures and validation tools
  • Participate in design reviews, testing, and cross-functional problem solving

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience developing machine vision systems
  • Strong knowledge of image processing, image analysis, pattern recognition, 3D geometry, and metrology algorithms
  • Experience with board-level electronics design (imagers, microcontrollers, PLDs, memory, low-voltage power, basic analog circuits)
  • Embedded software development experience using C/C++
  • Application-level software development experience, including UI/screen design
  • Experience developing in C/C++ within a Windows environment; Visual Studio preferred
  • Experience working in a multi-developer environment using configuration management and defect tracking tools preferred
  • Familiarity with specifying or designing vision hardware (cameras, optics, lighting) preferred
