Kelly, in partnership with a growing chemical distributor, is looking for a Maintenance Planner in Petersburg, VA.

This is a direct hire opportunity meaning you will be hired permanently with our client and offered their vacation time, benefits and compensation upon hire.

Details:
  • Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday
  • Salary: $72,000 – 96,400 plus bonus
  • Location: Petersburg, VA
Job Description:
  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Works directly with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to develop and schedule preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans for mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Generate and manage work orders, plan and utilize detailed schedules for plan downtime while ensuring timely completion and adherence to maintenance schedules.
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, and procurement teams to align maintenance strategies with business objectives.
  • Assess and allocate the number of outage hours needed for specific projects.
  • Assist in managing the maintenance budget by optimizing resources and minimizing unnecessary costs.
  • Monitor and document maintenance tasks, maintaining accurate records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Perform root cause analysis for mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
  • Work with Supply Chain and monitor spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are available when needed
  • Liaise with vendors and contractors for specialized repair and service needs.
  • Provide mechanical engineering expertise to troubleshoot equipment issues and optimize maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all maintenance activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Planner or in a similar role in a chemical environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and maintenance best practices.
  • Proficiency in CMMS software and maintenance planning tools – you will be responsible for implementation of a new system.
