Job Posting: Maintenance Technician I
Location: Hayward, CA
Pay Rate: $29.11 per hour
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm Summary: Join our dynamic team as a Maintenance Technician I, supporting plant production by troubleshooting, performing repairs, and maintaining manufacturing and facilities equipment. You'll use your technical expertise with preventative maintenance and root cause analysis to promote operational excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain medical device manufacturing equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motor controls, and electrical/electronic systems.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment operation.
- Respond to unscheduled maintenance and trouble calls quickly and efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety protocols (Arc Flash, Lock Out Tag Out, Ladder Safety, etc.).
- Ensure all procedures, pre-approvals, and signoffs are followed using Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and maintain accurate records in our CMMS (Maximo preferred).
- Manage spare parts inventory for assigned areas.
- Strictly comply with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) and manufacturing SOPs.
- Coordinate with EHS for global regulatory compliance.
- Execute equipment modifications, upgrades, and new installations.
- Participate in site and departmental continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support plant production and operational goals.
- Strong written/verbal communication in English; excellent procedural writing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable navigating Windows, email, internet, PDFs, etc.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS); Maximo preferred.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLC) such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, Omron; SCADA/EMS/BMS a plus.
- Skilled with motor controls, VFDs, servos, stepper motors, and high-speed packaging equipment.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical/building drawings, and part diagrams.
- Working knowledge of sensors, vision systems (Cognex, Keyence), temperature controllers, and inkjet printers.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting high-speed manufacturing/packaging equipment and facility equipment (compressed air, vacuum, HVAC, RO water).
- Basic machining, welding, and tooling abilities preferred.
- Electrical competence up to 480V 3-phase, relays, switches, solenoids, AC/DC drives, and low voltage systems.
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment while using required PPE.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3-5 years maintenance experience on automated manufacturing equipment.
- Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand for extended periods, walk, push, lift (up to 50 lbs occasionally), grasp, and feel.
- Must be able to communicate effectively by talking and hearing.
- Requires adequate visual acuity for precision work.
- Work is both indoors and outdoors; exposure to mechanical hazards, pressurized equipment, vehicles, electrical currents, high places, chemicals, and atmospheric conditions like dust, fumes, or poor ventilation.
- Noise levels may require raised voices.
- Cleanroom and PPE requirements.
