Job Title: Manufacturing Scientist
Location: South Bend, IN metro area
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65-75,000 + Benefits About the Role
We are hiring a Manufacturing Scientist to join our growing team in South Bend, Indiana. This full-time position supports expanded production capacity following a recent merger. You'll work with large-scale fermenters (up to 14,500L) in a dynamic, science-driven manufacturing environment. What You'll Do

  • Operate and maintain fermenters, including batching, sterilization, inoculation, monitoring, harvest, and cleaning
  • Perform aseptic handling and testing of bacterial cultures
  • Prepare solutions, including acids and bases
  • Carry out protein purification using chromatographic techniques
  • Operate lab and manufacturing equipment following SOPs
  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform routine maintenance
  • Document work accurately using digital data tools
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional staff
  • Work flexible hours, including occasional nights/weekends
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related field
  • Experience in fermentation and protein purification preferred
  • Proficiency in aseptic technique, pipetting, spectrophotometry, biosafety cabinets, and autoclave operation
  • Strong basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Comfortable working at a lab bench for extended periods
  • Team player with strong communication and documentation skills
