Job Level Description:

Purpose:
The Material Planner plays a crucial role in managing and coordinating the materials required for the New Product Introduction (NPI) team. This role involves setting up assembly parts in the SAP system, generating workflows, ensuring material availability, and defining order lot sizes. The Material Planner works closely with various functional areas and maintain clear communication across the organization to ensure seamless material flow and project execution.

Responsibility Statements:

 
  • Set up assembly parts for the NPI team in the SAP system.
  • Generate and manage workflows to ensure timely input from various functional areas, such as MDP, SME, Quality, and Design.
  • Submit new materials workflows to Material Data Planners (MDPs).
  • Perform comprehensive materials analysis to identify and address shortages.
  • Provide visibility of material shortages and coordinate with procurement to drive ETA/LT for shortages.
  • Ensure material completeness before releasing manufacturing orders.
  • Define the lot size for manufacturing orders.
  • Work closely with the Project Engineer and Shopfloor teams for new releases.
  • Coordinate with the shop floor and Project Engineer for special orders or shipment requirements.
  • Engage the Materials Department/Operations with NPI releases and provide visibility of NPI priorities.
  • Maintain high communication with the Materials Department regarding NPI needs and ensure materials are not released without NPI Planner authorization.
  • Collaborate with the Materials SMT Scheduler to coordinate NPI releases per the project plan.
  • Ensure all Job Instruction Sheets (JIS), routings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) comply with the latest Change Document Records (CDRs), deviations, and Change Requests (CRs) before new releases.
  • Participate in program meetings to stay aligned with program goals and timelines.
  • Ensure that system demand aligns with program requirements, such as updating configurations in the system.
  • Provide visibility to the program team regarding material needs and shortages and recommend alternate parts as necessary.
  • Regularly review and improve materials management processes to enhance efficiency and reduce delays.
  • Prepare and provide reports on material status, shortages, and NPI due/overdue items.
  • Monitor and report on the status of workflows and material inputs from functional areas.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all materials workflows, analyses, and updates in the SAP system.

  • Ensure that all records are up-to-date and easily accessible for review and auditing purposes.

For this role, fluency in English is required (both spoken and written), and any experience with ERP systems such as SAP is our preferred skillset.
