Overview
Our client is a leading manufacturer of custom, all-welded marine trailers and boat cradles, serving both recreational and military markets. With over 50 years of expertise and a reputation for precision engineering, their products are designed to exact boat specifications to ensure optimal hull support and transport performance.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join their Bradenton-based team. This engineer will design and develop high-performance boat trailers tailored to recreational, commercial, government, and military applications. This is a hands-on, on-site position with opportunities to contribute across product design, testing, and improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer custom boat trailers using 3D modeling software
  • Convert scanned 3D boat hull data into optimized trailer designs
  • Conduct strength and beam deflection calculations for aluminum and steel welded structures
  • Perform weight distribution and center of gravity assessments for trailer balance
  • Ensure designs meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and customer specifications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manufacturing floor to optimize fit, function, and manufacturability
  • Create detailed designs, cut lists, and drawings for production
  • Participate in scanning activities using FARO Scene and Geomagic Wrap
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Occasionally source components, equipment, and materials

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Marine, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
  • 5+ years experience applying structural design principles (e.g., stress/strain analysis, load distribution), CAD modeling and material selection to engineer welded aluminum or steel products
  • Industry experience in marine, trailer, heavy equipment, automotive, or aerospace preferred
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, KeyCreator, or equivalent CAD software (training provided for KeyCreator)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with FARO Scene, Geomagic Wrap, and FEA a plus
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups; VBA/macros a plus
  • Travel: <10% (primarily for scanning activities)
