Product Development Engineer – Data Center Thermal Solutions (Full-Time, Lancaster, PA)

What You'll Do
  • Drive Innovation: Design, analyze, prototype, and test thermal management products—such as cold plates, heat exchangers, CDUs, and air-to-liquid systems—for cutting-edge data center applications.
  • Lead Development from Concept to Launch: Manage multiple projects, including iterative improvements and clean-sheet developments, to optimize performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with manufacturing, sales, marketing, and customer engineering teams in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Simulation & Analysis: Perform thermal and fluid simulations (CFD, FEA) and structural analysis to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Hands-On Prototyping and Validation: Build and test next-gen thermal systems under real-world conditions.
  • Project Management: Oversee project schedules, customer communications, status updates, and overall program success.
  • Generate Documentation: Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, BOMs, test reports, work instructions, and O&M manuals.
  • Support Product Lifecycle: Contribute to DVT, EVT, and NPI launches, collaborate with suppliers, and ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
  • Stay Ahead of Industry Trends: Stay informed of emerging technologies, standards, and regulations affecting data center cooling.

Required Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years' experience in thermal systems product development (preferably in electronics or data center cooling)
  • Strong knowledge in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics
  • Experience with CFD simulation (e.g., Ansys Fluent, Autodesk CFD)
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, brazing, and sheet metal fabrication
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with two-phase cooling technologies (refrigerant, heat pipes, vapor chambers)
  • Knowledge of industry standards (ASHRAE TC 9.9, 90.4, OCP)
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure and liquid cooling deployments
  • Understanding of environmental regulations for refrigerants in cooling systems
