Role Overview
The Microbiologist is a foundational role focused on providing high-quality technical support within our quality control laboratory. As a hands-on contributor, you will perform routine microbiological testing to ensure the safety, quality, and efficacy of a diverse product portfolio—including FDA Over-the-Counter (OTC) drugs, cosmetics, and EPA-registered disinfectants. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a career in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations & Testing

  • Hands-on Analysis: Perform routine microbiological testing, including microbial limits, antimicrobial effectiveness, and preservative challenge tests.
  • Aseptic Technique: Maintain a sterile environment while performing dilutions, culture propagation, and colony enumeration.
  • Media Preparation: Prepare and qualify specialized media and reagents; manage the maintenance of cryopreserved cultures.
Quality Control & Compliance
  • Regulatory Adherence: Execute all laboratory tasks in strict accordance with cGMP, GLP, ISO, and USP standards.
  • Documentation: Record raw data accurately and timely; assist in the drafting of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Validation Support: Assist senior staff in executing microbiological validation protocols and method verification studies.



Environmental Monitoring
  • Facility Hygiene: Conduct cleanroom monitoring, utility testing (water/air), and collect samples from manufacturing equipment and raw material containers.
  • Data Support: Assist in gathering data for investigations and environmental trend reports.
Core Technical Competencies
  • Laboratory Basics: Mastery of Gram staining, pipetting, and aseptic transfer techniques.
  • Microbial Enumeration: Proficiency in plate counting, membrane filtration, and identification methods.
  • Product Testing: Familiarity with antimicrobial testing and the application of USP/EP monographs.
  • Safety & Handling: Proper use of autoclaves, incubators, and biosafety cabinets.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Professional Experience: 0–3 years of experience. Prior internship experience in a lab or manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of FDA/EPA guidelines as they relate to laboratory testing.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to navigate a manufacturing floor to collect samples from equipment, tanks, and storage areas.
