Microbiologist II/III
NY Metro Area, NY
Full-Time
1st Shift
Compensation: $30-50/hr, depending on experience


SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Microbiologist II/III to join our dynamic R&D team onsite in the NY Metro Area. In this role, you will lead and contribute to critical microbiological aspects of product development, process improvement, and quality assurance. You will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to mentor and guide junior team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Microbiological Strategy: Develop and implement robust microbiological strategies to support R&D initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality requirements.
  • Advanced Microbiological Techniques: Conduct complex microbiological analyses, including but not limited to:
  • Environmental monitoring (air, surfaces, equipment)
  • Sampling and analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products
  • Method development and validation
  • Investigation of microbial contamination issues
  • Technical Expertise & Innovation:
  • Stay abreast of cutting-edge microbiological techniques and technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing methodologies and develop innovative solutions to microbiological challenges.
  • Proactively contribute to the development of new products and processes with a focus on microbiological safety and efficacy.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship:
  • Guide and mentor junior microbiologists, providing technical training and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, QA/QC, Manufacturing) to achieve project goals.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
  • Analyze microbiological data, generate comprehensive reports, and present findings to project teams and management.
  • Identify trends and patterns in microbiological data to inform process improvements and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure all microbiological activities are conducted in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, USP).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all microbiological testing and investigations.  
    REQUIREMENTS
    • BS in Microbiology, or a related field such as Biotechnology, Food Science, or Immunology.
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or food manufacturing environment.
    • Demonstrated experience with advanced microbiological techniques (e.g., molecular biology, sterility testing, environmental monitoring).
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.  
    • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
    • Experience with GMP/GLP regulations is highly preferred.
