Paint Loader
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Position: Painter and Material Handler
Pay: $20+
Trains first shift 5 AM – 4/4:30 PM
2nd Shift Position: 4 PM to 2/2:30 AM


Overview:
Our Client seeking a meticulous and skilled Material Handler & Painter to join their team. As part of operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of materials while also executing painting tasks with precision.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the "Pieces Not Shipped" list to verify and mark off items for loading.
  • Secure materials using bands, boxes, and shrink wraps for safe handling during transportation.
  • Cut, carry, and stack wood dunnage in required dimensions (4x4).
  • Safely load trailers (maximum capacity of 45,000 pounds) using overhead cranes and lifting devices.
  • Submit the finalized "Finished Left to Load" list, signed, to the plant manager.
  • Assist in additional tasks to enhance customer satisfaction as determined by plant management.
Painting Responsibilities:
  • Arrange materials using cranes and lifting equipment for painting.
  • Ensure accurate labeling of paint colors and avoid designated "no paint zones."
  • Clean materials by sweeping or blowing off debris for paint preparation.
  • Confirm paint colors and types, prepare pumps accordingly.
  • Spray and paint materials, ensuring a consistent finish.
  • Perform material flipping using hand tools or cranes as necessary.
  • Organize painted materials in the staging area.
  • Utilize an elcometer to check paint thickness twice per shift, recording data on the mill thickness log.
  • Support plant management initiatives to maximize customer satisfaction.

Candidate Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Mandatory experience operating overhead cranes.
