Payroll Analyst – Direct Hire

Location: Northbrook, IL (initially onsite, hybrid after 60–90 days)

Employment Type: Full-time, Direct Hire

Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 + annual Bonus potential

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

 

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Payroll Analyst to join a growing payroll team supporting a multi-entity, US-based workforce. This is a newly created role driven by company growth and expanding payroll responsibilities. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where cross-training and professional development are highly encouraged. You will join a payroll team of three and report directly to the Payroll Manager.

Payroll is centralized in Northlake, while HR partners are based in the field. This role will support payroll team for 1,000–1,200 employees across multiple pay groups and states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timesheets are completed successfully and accurately, and assist with submitting payroll within specified deadlines
  • Responsible for updates of payroll records by entering changes in wages, job titles, and department/division transfers, benefit withholdings, and payroll deductions.
  • Maintains up-to-date employee reports (i.e. headcount, turnover, benefit arrears, etc..)
  • Inputs and maintains garnishments, levies, and child support deductions within payroll system.
  • Maintains payroll records and ensures that information is kept confidential.
  • Maintains written payroll procedures and keeps payroll back up informed of payroll developments.
  • Perform other payroll related duties, including ad hoc projects, reports, and analysis.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: Ideally 3–5 years in payroll or finance. Open to candidates who are tech-savvy and eager to transition into payroll.
  • Systems Knowledge: Experience with ADP (Vantage preferred).
  • Excel Proficiency: Strong understanding of VLOOKUPs, SUM formulas, and report validation (macros not required).
  • Detail-Oriented: Accuracy is critical in payroll. We need someone who spots errors before they become problems.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and support various pay groups.
  • Growth Mindset: Willing to learn, improve processes, and support broader HR initiatives over time.

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience in multi-location or multi-entity environments
  • Exposure to community engagement, grassroots campaigns, or organic marketing (a plus, not required)
  • Familiarity with payroll analytics and error resolution
