  Job Title: Pilot Plant Technologist

Location: Friendswood, TX
Job Type: Full-Time - Long Term Contract
 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Pilot Plant Technologist to support daily operations in a pilot plant environment. This individual will be responsible for understanding and maintaining two extraction units, performing fluid sample collections, conducting fluid transfers between frac tanks and 300-gallon totes, and making equipment or process adjustments based on testing requirements. The role requires a strong laboratory background, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain two extraction units in the pilot plant.

  • Perform fluid sample collections in accordance with established procedures and protocols.

  • Adjust process parameters and unit operations per instructions from test requestors.

  • Transfer fluids between frac tanks and 300-gallon totes safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain accurate records of technical work and provide regular verbal and written updates to team members and supervisors.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues with pilot-scale equipment.

  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and operational procedures.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, engineering, and operations.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimization.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (4-year) in a science or technology-related field (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.).

  • Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience in a scientific, technical, or industrial setting.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with equipment or machinery.

  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions with precision.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical reporting and team coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining pilot plant or laboratory-scale equipment.

  • Highly technical and analytical mindset, capable of interpreting complex data and procedures.

  • Strong team player with a collaborative approach and positive attitude.

  • Flexible and adaptable to shifting project needs and dynamic work environments.

  • Previous experience in a pilot plant or process development environment is a plus.

Working Conditions:
  • Work will be performed in a pilot plant and laboratory environment with exposure to industrial equipment, fluids, and occasional outdoor work.

  • May involve standing for long periods, lifting equipment or materials (up to 50 lbs), and working in varied temperature conditions.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
