Job Description:

The Purchase Order (P.O.) Specialist role exists to assist in providing the Plaquemine TES (Maintenance, Turnarounds, Projects) group with effective P.O. management. The successful candidate will provide P.O. management service to TES Function across the site. Responsibilities include assisting in the development of the composite P.O. creation, managing, analyzing, and forecasting costs throughout the life cycle of the P.O., and taking independent and appropriate action to resolve P.O. discrepancies and issues. A successful candidate must be a self-starter and able to execute work with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities / Duties:

• Create and review purchase requisitions for clarity, compliance, detail, completeness, and obtain additional information considered necessary.

• Follows up on purchase requisition approval process as needed.

• Monitor and update purchase requisition tracker.

• Analyzes P.O. data and identifies discrepancies.

• Determines and defines course of action to correct P.O. issues.

• Must be able to lead meetings and present P.O. data, P.O. trends, etc. to Leaders. Works with TES group to validate P.O. inventory to obtain missing or incomplete data, etc.

• Sets up P.O. troubleshooting within Dow and with outside contractors and vendors.

• Makes cost adjustments to PO as necessary and works closely with TES group to properly track P.O. usage.

• Plan, organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks to execute job functions in an orderly and efficient manner.

• Demonstrate ability to work independently and to adapt quickly in fast paced environment.

• Work with vendor and the plant to resolve billing errors and discrepancies.

 

Requirements / Recommended Skills:

• Working knowledge of software systems: SAP, Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Access preferred.

• Must be able to independently understand and resolve situations by gathering electronic data as well as visual observations.

• Display strong leadership skills by actively seeking and following up on data from individuals/groups that must supply data required to get the job done and resolve any issues.

• Experience with billing and P.O. practices is a plus but could be obtained on the job.

• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are attributes of a successful candidate.

• Good organizational & communication skills.

• Ability to work in a team environment is a must.

• Willingness to follow established processes.

• Ability to prioritize daily task and multitask to meet deadlines.

• Close interaction with all roles for long term and on-the-spot problem
