Food Q.C.Technician
Location: San Fernando, CA
Pay Rate: $21–$22/hr

Overview:

The Q.C. Lab Technician at Client must be a critical thinker who operates with autonomy, embraces accountability, and demonstrates a mindset for continuous improvement. Client offers a great working environment, competitive salary, stability, and potential for growth.

General Description of Duties:
  • Perform standard Q.C. tests and analyses on incoming raw materials, raw samples, and/or finished products.

  • Prepare standards for comparison with production samples.

  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed.

  • Regularly maintain and calibrate instruments.

  • Receive instruction and guidance from QC Chemists and R&D Scientists of all levels.

  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, Purchasing, and other inter-company lab personnel regarding procedures and resources.

  • Foster a positive work atmosphere through professional behavior and effective communication with vendors, customers, co-workers, and supervisors.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Conduct standard routine tests (RI, density, pH, color, etc.) on products.

  • Perform sensory tests on raw materials, customer submissions, and finished products.

  • Pull and evaluate samples from storage or incoming shipments as needed.

  • Evaluate raw materials against specifications.

  • Collect, review, and file Certificates of Analysis for all raw materials.

  • Keep QC records up to date in FABS.

  • Begin to troubleshoot QC issues and recommend improvements.

  • Prepare samples for external testing as required.

  • Organize, store, clean up, and dispose of retained QC samples.

  • Clean and calibrate all QC lab instruments regularly.

  • Wash glassware and maintain a clean, well-stocked lab environment.

  • Implement and improve QC procedures (e.g., record keeping, trend analysis, specifications development, timely reporting).

  • Train new employees as needed.

  • Follow all safety procedures and policies.

  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Minimum B.A. in a related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Ability to move around in a lab and production setting.

  • Visual acuity for evaluating samples and operating lab equipment.

  • Demonstrated acuity in taste and aroma analysis.

  • Primarily based at the San Fernando, CA location, but must be able to report to other company facilities as needed (potentially with same-day notice).
