Quality Control Lab Lead - Portland, OR
Job Summary:
The Quality Control Lab Lead & Environmental Specialist manages food safety, quality, and environmental programs in warehouse and production areas. Key responsibilities include conducting QA tests, ensuring compliance, managing documentation, and supporting continuous improvement. The role involves product checks, equipment maintenance, and assisting with quality investigations. Strong communication, attention to detail, and flexibility for overtime are required.
Details:
- Pay rate: $23 - $25/hr
- Shift: Mon - Fri; 6am - 7am start time; 8hr shifts
- Duration: Temp-to-Hire (6 month conversion)
Responsibilities:
- Administer Food Safety, Pre-requisite, and quality programs for warehouse and production areas.
- Perform QA tests on incoming, in-process, and outgoing products.
- Monitor internal/external environments to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards. Oversee environmental programs and corrective actions.
- Review and manage quality documentation for traceability, compliance, and accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and food safety policies in production areas.
- Conduct line checks, evaluate product quality, report results, and manage ingredient release.
- Enter test results into QC systems, promptly report findings, and communicate with 3rd Party labs as needed.
- Notify relevant parties of quality or food safety deviations.
- Maintain QA equipment calibrations and manage lab supplies.
- Assist with customer complaints and internal quality issues.
- Promote continuous improvement by sharing best practices and standardizing processes.
- Track and report departmental goals and KPIs to management.
- Proficient in email, ERP systems, Excel, Word, Google Docs, and MS Nav.
- Strong communication skills; independent, detail-oriented, and adaptable. Available for overtime and weekend work as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Ability to complete a HACCP certification within 6 months of hire (company pays for certification program)
- 1-2 years of GMP manufacturing quality assurance or quality control experience; preferably in food manufacturing
- Ability to work within Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems
