Full time Direct Hire opportunity near the Chicago Heights, IL area for a Quality Engineer.
Three plus years of Quality experience required.
Engineering degree required
Must have working experience with ISO 9001 & IATF 16949
Salary range up to $100,000k
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance processes to ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal standards. This role will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives, reduce defects, and enhance overall product reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quality control procedures, inspection methods, and test plans.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) initiatives for non-conformances.
- Perform audits on production processes, suppliers, and finished products to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and company standards.
- Analyze data from inspections, testing, and customer feedback to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing to address design and process-related quality issues.
- Support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and control plan documentation where applicable.
- Train production and inspection personnel on quality standards and processes.
- Partner with suppliers to resolve quality concerns and ensure incoming materials meet specifications.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining quality documentation, including inspection records, test reports, and audit findings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in trailer, automotive, or heavy equipment industry strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
- Hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies: root cause analysis, FMEA, SPC, 8D, Six Sigma, GD&T.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and using precision measurement tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP and quality management systems preferred.
