Quality & Regulatory Affairs Manager
Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
The Quality & Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for the Quality and Food Safety of Nutraceuticals products, quality improvements, and productivity initiatives. The Quality Manager will provide leadership and direction to a team of technically skilled direct reports and the position will serve as the point of contact and subject matter expert on all food safety and quality topics assigned.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures product safety, regulatory compliance, and compliance with company standards.
- Provide quality and food safety expertise/direction/support in the manufacture of new and existing products.
- Develop, implement, and monitor company policies and procedures related to Food Safety and Quality Control Programs.
- Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating.
- Provides leadership in coaching, education, and training of management staff and plant employees for Quality Control.
- Manage, train, schedule, and direct Quality Control Team Lead and Technicians, providing coverage for the absence of key personnel.
- Co-ordinate or perform the technical qualification of potential new co-manufacturing facilities and/or new equipment installations to ensure quality and food safety expectations are met.
- Continually examine and review plant processes to identify and remove potential areas of concern.
- Conduct investigations and make recommendations of matters pertaining to procedural compliance. Assist other departments in Quality Control related issues.
- Investigate customer complaints and/or events, determine root cause, and implement necessary corrective action. Assist with regulatory audits.
- Review monitoring and verifications generated by quality and safety plans for product hold and release.
- Ensure all samples for chemical and microbiological testing are correctly sampled and analyzed.
- Perform physical and organoleptic testing for verification and compliance to specifications (pH, color, water activity, moisture, temperature, etc.
- Develop and maintain documentation of all required quality tests and activities. Prepare and create reports.
- Complete regular maintenance and calibrations of all Quality Control instrumentation.
- Stay current with all key regulatory and certifying agency requirements.
- Provide project and team status updates regularly to the Leadership team.
- Partnering with senior leadership to identify, analyze, and accelerate strategies for growth.
- Perform various functions and special assignments to assist the Director of Quality in the administration of department functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supervise, develop, provide feedback, and coach employees.
- Responsible for employee selection, retention, disciplinary action, and performance management.
- Held accountable for food safety and quality of Nutraceutical products.
- Adhere to and enforce all required work safe practices.
- Must be familiar with quality control testing for dietary supplements, microbiological testing, HACCP, food safety and defense, pest management, allergen control and sanitation practices.
- Have a working knowledge of all procedures and processes within the plant environment.
- Proficient with work order processes and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Demonstrate leadership while being a team player working across multiple functions and disciplines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Skilled in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work in an environment where you are exposed to sensitive food ingredients and allergens.
- Willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Work well in a face paced and always changing manufacturing environment.
- Required to pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, background, and criminal checks).
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Food Science or science-related degree required.
- HACCP and SQF Practitioner certification preferred.
- 10 years' experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control in the food Industry.
- 5 years' experience in a lead and/or supervisory capacity.
- MFG and Dietary background required
- 5 years' experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control in the food Industry.
- Full-time; M-F; 8am-5pm
