Senior Research Associate, Product Development

Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Senior Laboratory Research Associate, Product Development for a contract position at a cutting-edge client in San Diego, CA. Pay: $46 - $49/hour Depending on Experience
Schedule: Mon-Fri Full-time, on-site

Overview
Our client is an industry-leading company developing high-impact diagnostic assays to address unmet clinical needs and improve patient outcomes. This role will primarily involve working in the laboratory, supporting the Product Development team in achieving both short- and long-term goals. It is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience within an R&D team at a leading diagnostics company.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in R&D specimen processing, from extraction to sequencing, including NGS library preparation.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments to study factors influencing molecular diagnostic test performance.
  • Process FFPE specimens, extract DNA and RNA, and perform quality control on materials.
  • Create NGS libraries for sequencing and operate NGS instruments.
  • Provide and analyze data for specialized data analysis teams and present results.
  • Assist in the development of automated processes and operate liquid handlers.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges in the development process.
  • Develop and author SOPs, experimental protocols, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with scientists across various teams, including Development, Sustaining, and CLIA Operations.
Qualifications:
  • BS with 2+ years, MS with 1+ years, or PhD with 0-2 years of relevant experience in Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry principles.
  • Hands-on experience with DNA/RNA extraction, quantitation, PCR, and NGS library preparation.
  • Experience working with FFPE specimens, specifically in RNA extraction.
