What's a typical day as a Structural Mechanic III? You will:
- Safely perform assembly, fitting, and riveting of structural and sheet metal parts while ensuring all assemblies meet quality and safety standards.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets to determine correct assembly sequences and specifications.
- Use and maintain tools such as riveting guns, drills, countersinks, and reamers to perform precise structural work, including fastener installation and removal.
- Align and assemble parts using jigs, clamps, and fixtures, forming complex angles and configurations according to blueprints or verbal instructions.
- Instruct and assist team members in interpreting drawings and resolving production or installation challenges.
- Maintain accurate records and logs (MIR sheets, DMTs, PCOs) and perform rework or repairs as required to meet conformity standards.
- Support company 5S and Lean initiatives by keeping a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Properly use and return company tools, dispose of waste materials safely, and follow standard operating procedures for ground support equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and ensure accurate daily job charging and shift turnover communication.
- Perform other assigned duties to support production goals and maintain operational efficiency.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 4 years of avionics-related structural assembly experience
- Experience working with Solumina and Smarteam preferred
- Leadership experience preferred
- Q stamp certification preferred
- Basic computer literacy and fundamental shop math skills
- Ability to read and comprehend basic documents, instructions, and measurement scales
- Strong attention to detail, professionalism, teamwork, and ability to meet demanding schedules
- Skilled in close-tolerance work with knowledge of specialized tools and equipment
- Experience working with composite resins and materials
- Flexibility to work any assigned shift
- Physically capable of climbing ladders, stairs, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs
